The wild is a place of uncertainties and dangers. Animals use various ways to escape from their enemies. While some use their speed and power to escape predators, others have natural camouflaging techniques.

A zebra’s strips are believed to be for camouflage-the patterns confuse the enemy, and make it difficult for predators to identity a single animal from a running herd. These stripes are unique to individual zebras, as no two zebras have identical stripes on their body. Due to their uniqueness, stripes may also help zebras recognize one another.
